Experience Gentle Chiropractic Care to Improve Healing at DCPG

When your head suddenly snaps back in a car accident, sports injury, or fall, the resulting whiplash is more than just a pain in the neck – it’s a complex injury that can affect your entire life. Even what seems like a minor fender-bender at low speed can create significant trauma to the delicate structures of your neck. At DCPG, we’ve helped countless Florida residents recover from whiplash injuries and return to their normal activities pain-free.

Understanding Whiplash: More Than Just Neck Pain

Think of your neck like a bridge carrying important cargo – it supports your head while protecting vital nerves and blood vessels. When sudden trauma forces your head to whip back and forth, it can damage multiple structures:

What makes whiplash particularly tricky is that symptoms don’t always appear immediately after the injury, and an initial medical evaluation may not consider the full extent of the effect on your spine. You might feel fine initially, only to develop symptoms days or even weeks later.

The effect on the nervous system can lead to more issues than just any initial discomfort. These can include:

Your Road to Whiplash Recovery

Healing from whiplash is a journey, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. During your initial phase of care, we focus on pain relief and reducing inflammation. As your acute symptoms improve, we transition to rehabilitative care, helping you rebuild strength and stability in your neck and upper back.

We may also recommend important strategies to support your recovery at home, including:

Remember, the sooner you address these issues, the better your chances of a full recovery and preventing long-term complications.

Specific Whiplash Treatment At DCPG

If you’ve had a trauma to your neck, don’t wait for symptoms to appear or worsen. First, seek medical care to assess your condition.

Next, come for chiropractic and nervous system evaluation. Remember, even a “minor” accident can cause significant injury to your spine.

Getting proper care for whiplash as soon as possible is our best recommendation. However, even years after an injury, we can do a lot to correct structural and biomechanical issues and support your body’s healing processes.

Our approach begins with a thorough examination to understand the full extent of your injury. Using hands-on assessments and, when necessary, specialized imaging, we can identify exactly how the accident has affected your spine and surrounding tissues.

Your personalized treatment plan is designed to:

We use gentle, precise adjustments to help realign your spine and reduce nerve irritation. Our techniques are specifically adapted to your situation to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the healing process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Osteopathy is a primary healthcare profession, governed by statutory law, to provide the highest quality care for patients in the treatment of their muscular and joint pains.  It is a hands-on therapy which uses a system of diagnosis and treatment with the emphasis being on helping the body heal itself.

The first appointment consists of a case history which involves asking you questions about your medical history, lifestyle, and the symptoms you are currently experiencing.

Osteopaths work with their hands, and treatment often consists of a combination of techniques such as:

  • Rhythmic articulation and joint manipulation (clicking) to restore joint mobility

  • Massage and pumping to improve fluid dynamics to restore tissue health

  • Myo-fascial stretching to restore normal tissue length and structure

Ideally, we like to be able to see the area we are treating and the surrounding tissues so that we can deliver an effective and safe treatment. In most cases, if we are treating the upper back in women a strappy vest top or sports bra will allow us to treat effectively. If treating the lower half of the body, exercise shorts can be worn. If you do not want to undress, then talk to the osteopath and we can work around the issue.  Your modesty will always be respected.

Occasionally, you may find some techniques uncomfortable, but we will always ask for feedback during treatment and will work within your comfort zone. After your treatment you may experience soreness or tenderness in the area that was treated, however this usually subsides within 24-48 hours. If you are concerned after your treatment, please call the clinic and we can offer more advice.

Ellie is absolutely amazing! I had neck and upper back pain for over 8 months having visited a number of physio and consultants, no success. Ellie identified the problem in the first session and had it fixed in the next two. Great energy, great passion. Definitely recommend. Thank you.
